| miriam reid Miriam was born in Monmouthshire South Wales and studied Fine Art at Newport College of Art. She has drawn and painted using various media but her main interest lies in watercolour. Over the past number over years she has developed an interest in ceramics, particulary producing RAKU pieces. RAKU is a process which originated in Japan in the sixteenth century and involves firing pieces at relatively low temperatures and then plunging them into combustable material to reduce the glazes to produce the vibrant colours and crackle effects. These pieces are purely decorative. Miriam has lived in the Stonehouse area for the past 30 years. |
